I have the first appearance of Gambit, so that's worth around $200. I did buy issue 12 or something to try it. ![]() Like I was there when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came out, but it was this black and white comic with weird art, and this goofy premise. There are some I remember seeing on the stand, and I passed them. I have several that are worth a couple hundred dollars, many that are worth $20-$50. Like anything, it depends on what comic books. ![]() But it's not "Retire and roll on a pallet of bills breaking bad style" rich. So yeah, $272k would be sweet right now, I won't lie. Using that figure, an investment of $1,000 in Apple back in 1980 would yield close to $272,000 today. But! Apple shares have split four times since then-when a stock splits, it increases the number of shares an individual has-which puts the adjusted initial offering price at closer to 39 cents a share. If you had spent $1,000 on Apple stock in 1980, you would have been able to buy about 45 shares at $22 apiece. However, the windfall you'd get from Apple stock from the 80s, wouldn't have been THAT great with $1,000. Then the ipod came out and fucking blew that stock through the roof. They were like $20/share or something at one point. However he eventually sold them, and is now kicking himself. My brother had some apple stock in the 90s, because he loved Apple computers (being a graphic designer). ![]() He had completely written them off at that point as useless. I remember in the late 90s, my college computer hardware teacher said that "I've heard the toilet flush on Apple 4 years ago, it's just taking a long time for that company to go down the drain". Steve Jobs was gone, Apple was desperate and was starting to make Apple Clones (like PCs), they were shuffling through CEOs. Buying Apple Stocks in the 80s would mean you'd lose money on Apple in the 90s. People don't remember how seriously FUCKED Apple was in the 90s.
